A multiplayer sandbox, with clear limits
The latest verified testing release is 1.10.0, published 24 October 2026. The player setup is Windows, or Linux through Proton, with the Steam or Epic Games edition of Hogwarts Legacy; the PC Game Pass edition is experimental. Dedicated servers run on Windows x64 or Linux x86-64 and hold 32 players by default, up to 128.
Core multiplayer is implemented. Shared campaign progression is still research. The features available in a particular session also depend on its installed resources; this framework is not a complete, identical roleplay server on every host.
Explore, cast, fly, and talk
- Other players appear as full characters with synchronized appearance, gear, spells, and wand-light effects.
- Brooms and creature mounts replicate movement so you can travel together.
- Proximity voice is implemented, with V as the default push-to-talk key and normal speech at approximately 25 metres.
- Players in separate game maps are replicated into separate worlds instead of appearing in the wrong coordinate space.
- Server-controlled weather, time, and seasons let a game mode set the mood for the session.
- PvP is off until a server enables it. Its rules, pairs, flags, and teams then decide who can fight, including one-on-one duels and the game’s wand link.
- Several players can fight the same NPC, sharing its health bar and kill rewards.
A castle shaped by its server
House standings are owned by the server and drive the Reception Hall hourglasses. Creature care uses native creature records and the game’s nurturing tools, and beasts can be caught with the Nab-Sack under the server’s referee. Door rules can hold a door state, rather than merely unlock it once.
A server can own chests, moonstone deposits, and foragables, run the Overland’s enemy camps and world events, and give players Room of Requirement rooms of their own.
Server scripts can control NPCs, interactable props, appearance, health, visibility, and other gameplay systems. Foundation layers durable characters, economy, inventory, and administration on top. These are building blocks for a server’s design, not a claim that every public server runs every system.
What is not promised
- Shared story or quest progression is not a completed feature.
- Steam and the Epic Games Store are the supported storefronts. PC Game Pass support is experimental, and other storefronts are not supported.
- Quidditch matches, duels, and other game modes are built by server scripts. There is no built-in Quidditch mode.
- A server version shown on the masterlist is not proof that your client can join it; match the build and channel.
- Browser joining through hogwartsmp:// links requires an installed launcher registered for the protocol. If a link does not open, use Direct Connect in the game.
- Source changes after 1.10.0 should not be assumed to be in the distributed testing build.
